Fonts and licensing

Figma provides font names and styles without supplying the font files to Mica. Upload the missing licensed styles once to your project, then reuse them in later work.

What you’ll accomplishYour needed font styles are saved to the project, and you understand how font choices affect editability and export rights.

Before you start

  • The connected Mica plugin and the intended project.
  • TTF or OTF files for any missing styles, with appropriate usage rights.

Match the family and each style

The font notice identifies missing families, weights, and italic styles. A regular face does not supply a separate bold or italic face. Variable fonts can cover their supported weight range; glyph coverage still matters for your text and languages.

Seeing a font correctly in Figma does not mean its binary is available to Mica’s cloud renderer or embedded in an HTML download.

Upload and save fonts

  1. Open Project fonts

In Convert → Artwork, expand Project fonts or the missing-font notice.
  2. Upload the required styles

Choose Upload fonts or drop several font files into the uploader. Use TTF or OTF files up to 30 MB each. Unreadable or unsupported files show an error.
  3. Wait for Saved to project

Uploading and processing are separate from being saved. Retry recoverable failures. If an interrupted upload requests its original file, select that same file to resume.
  4. Update an existing export

Choose Update HTML to apply newly supplied styles to the current export, then download the updated file. Future conversions automatically use saved project fonts.

Reuse fonts within the project

Completed uploads are retained in DAM → Typography and reused within that project, including after you reopen the plugin. You do not need to upload those same styles for every conversion.

Projects have separate font catalogues. Changing projects can change which fonts are available. New weights, italic styles, or fonts may still require an upload. An existing downloaded HTML file is unchanged until you update and download it again.

Choose how to handle unavailable fonts

Check rights for the intended use

Font licenses vary. Permission to use a font on your desktop does not necessarily permit uploading it to a cloud service, server-side rendering, embedding its bytes in HTML, or distributing those bytes to others.

Upload only fonts licensed for your intended Mica workflow and export destination. Check the actual license or ask its owner when those rights are unclear. Mica stores your upload; it does not grant a new license or certify your rights.
